Assistant Nurse Manager – NICU (Onsite | Southern California)

We are supporting a confidential healthcare organization in Southern California seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager – NICU to support clinical operations and nursing leadership within a high-acuity neonatal intensive care environment.
This role partners closely with nursing leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care, staff development, and operational excellence.
Support daily clinical and operational management of a NICU unit
Assist with implementation of patient care delivery models and best practices
Support staff supervision, scheduling, and appropriate resource allocation
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiatives
Assist with investigations related to patient, family, or care concerns
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Ensure adherence to clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
Provide clinical oversight and support as needed
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
BLS certification required
Minimum 2 years of NICU RN experience in a Level III or higher NICU
Minimum 1 year of formal nursing leadership experience
(Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, etc.)
Associates degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field
Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills
Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)
Bachelors or Masters degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN)
NICU specialty certifications (NRP, RNC-NIC)
Experience in acute care hospital environments
Experience supporting teams in unionized healthcare settings
